Filling Out Your Tax Return

Report Even If You Didn’t Receive Any Profits in 2013

Date: May 2014

Tax and benefit return should be filled out in any case, even if you didn’t receive any profits in 2013. The deadline is April 30, 2014. This way you may be entitled to particular tax benefits and get them right on time.

Credit and Benefit Payments

— the Canada child tax benefit (CCTB) as well as provincial and territorial programs. If you apply for this tax credit you have to submit one more tax return filled out by your wife/husband or a civil partner;

— the Universal child care benefit (UCCB);>

— the goods and services tax/harmonized sales tax credit and provincial and territorial programs.

The Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) may ask you to submit your checks, receipts and other documentation while proceeding your tax return in order to register your claims for credit and benefit payments. For this purpose you have to keep all the documents that you may possibly need for a minimum period of six years.

Online Filing Instructions

The procedure of online filing is very simple as it requires only your birth date and a social insurance number. Online filing guaranties your tax credits and benefits being paid without delays and interferences. Services provided by the CRA boast as high level of security as the one used by financial organizations in Canada. That’s why online filing is absolutely safe.

You should consider online filing if you want to receive your payments at shortest time possible. In case of filing online and signing up for direct deposit you may get your payments as soon as in 8 days. Visit www.cra.gc.ca/directdeposit to find out how to sign up for direct deposit.

Specially designed software applications and programs will significantly simplify the procedure of online filing. They will instruct you, control your finances and help to receive all the credit and benefit payments you are qualified for. Some of them are free of charge. If you want to check a catalog of software programs and apps, please visit www.netfile.gc.ca/software.

There are several more options for those, who prefer to fill out a paper tax return. You can find a tax return form on our website, download and print it; you can turn to Canada Post office in your area and get one there or you can use online order form service.

Those, who for some reason are unable to download a tax return form or visit their local post offices can request the whole tax and credit package by contacting the Canada Revenue Agency.
